“The braver you are, the more you’ll see.”
I’ve never really thought of myself as brave, but since I began this artistic journey, I have stepped outside of my comfort zone more than once and it has led me to some amazing places.
You probably thought I fell off the face of the earth, right? Apologies for the radio silence these past few months. I just needed a break from it all, so I took a little hiatus from digital art and social media. Honestly, I just needed to walk away from my computer and LIVE.
In the last few months, I’ve spent some time traveling and exploring new cities with my camera, which is all good fun until you get home and realize you have over 3,000 photos to go through. As you can imagine, I’ve been procrastinating the editing process for awhile. So, my goal for the new year is to narrow down my favorite images and share a photo a day on Instagram for the month of January.
I’ve also stepped waaaaay outside of my comfort zone and focused my time on a new creative outlet… creating music with my husband, who is a drummer. I have no musical training, so I’m what my husband considers a “muggle” or non-musical folk. I do love it though and after many, many hours of practice, I can somewhat successfully play one song on the piano. Whoo hoo! I don’t know where this new adventure will lead me, nor do I expect it to lead anywhere at all, but I’m having fun, so that’s all that really matters anyway, right?
I have a feeling that 2019 will bring a lot of change in my life. My day job is a graphic designer for NOAA, so I am currently furloughed due to the government shutdown. I don’t know how long I will be out of work or if I will even have a job to come back to because our contract ends in February. But I’m optimistic about the future and grateful for the adventures I’ve experienced so far. I’ve been incredibly fortunate to visit some beautiful cities that I never thought I would get to see and I’m hopeful that there will be new adventures on the horizon someday soon.
Best wishes and a very happy New Year to you all!
P.S. Here are a few fun facts about this image…
The background was shot from our flight leaving Amsterdam. It is so beautiful and green there!
The shoes and scarf are from London (yes, I’m Harry Potter nerd and those are Ravenclaw colors).
The dress is from Paris, although you really don’t see much of it due to the jacket. It’s cold outside!
The travel bag is from Florence, Italy. Bellissimo!
Yes, I have spent entirely too much money and now I’m broke. Totally worth it though!
