Above All Odds {19/52}

If you came across a ladder leading to an unknown destination, would you climb it? Would you risk everything to discover where it would lead you? If you're afraid of change then you might be inclined to keep your feet firmly on the ground. Maybe you are happy where you are in your life right now, and that's great if you are, but if you aren't, then what's stopping you? Fear?

It's a perfectly natural thing, but we shouldn't let our fears stop us from achieving our inner greatness. I've let fear control me for a long time and now, with every step I take towards my goal, I get a little braver. I had my camera for about two years before I ever got serious about photography or creating art in general. I don't know why, but I just didn't have any confidence to at least try it. It was a little over a year ago when I actually got serious about photography and even then, I never imagined I'd be able to create the images I do now. With every week, I get a little bit better... I learn a little more... and I gain confidence along the way.

No one ever got anywhere by saying, "I wish I could do that" and then never doing anything about it.  I'll be honest, before I started this project, I'd see so many beautiful images online and think, "wow, I'll never be that good." But no one starts out being amazing at what they are striving to do, and that's true with anything. We all have to start somewhere, and it's a lot of hard work to get to your end goal, but it's so worth it when you do.

This is my 19th image in this project and looking back at my work, I can't believe how far I've come. I've grown so much and pushed myself to the point I thought I might quit, but somehow I've managed to keep going... and I still have a long ways to go. If I've gotten this far though, I can't give up now! So this image is a little encouragement to myself and to all of you to keep going.... keep climbing that ladder... against all odds.... never give up on your dream.
